STAR House strongly believes in volunteerism as a way of building connections and partnerships that will strengthen our community and create meaningful experiences across generations.
STAR House and the families that we partner with in Saint Paul benefit from the breadth of experiences shared by volunteers through their unique perspectives, their relevant skills and their courage to act on making a difference. This means that when you volunteer with STAR House, you are valued for your individuality and your ability to invest in the future of all children.
Volunteers are integral in putting an end to the barriers that caregivers face when reaching out for support by creating a welcoming nonjudgmental environment. Together, we strive to live in a society that prioritizes the security, well-being and support of children. It takes a village to support families in our community and STAR House believes that our volunteers are a vital part of that village.

At this time all STAR House volunteers must be 18 years or older. We do offer group volunteer opportunities that accompanied minors are encouraged to participate in. All regularly scheduled on-site volunteers will be required to pass a DHS background check. Volunteers are expected to work a minimum of two four-hour shifts per month.
Anyone who meets the qualifications and is interested in becoming a volunteer is invited to watch the introduction video and complete an application. You will then be invited to an interview, during which we will discuss available volunteer opportunities and your preferences to determine which position or committee will be your best match. All volunteers that hope to work on-site will be required to pass a DHS background check.
We have several committees, virtual and in-person volunteer opportunities!
Our committees are run by volunteers who perform their work, mostly virtually, to accomplish the tasks needed to run STAR House. The committees meet and communicate as often as needed to complete their goals. The schedule and frequency of meetings will be determined by the committees themselves. Our in-person volunteer opportunities are a chance to support the children and families we serve. The schedule and frequency are determined on an individual volunteer basis. We're always looking for more STAR volunteers!
Our committees are:
Our in-person volunteer opportunities include:
