This Give to the Max season, we’re celebrating one year since STAR House first opened its doors to support families in crisis.
It hasn’t been easy! Our first year brought unexpected challenges, including two locations with significant repair needs and a temporary pause in services. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: families in Ramsey County still need a safe place for their children when life becomes too much to manage.
STAR House offers short-term, trauma-informed overnight care for children, giving parents the time and space they need to rebuild stability and strengthen their families. Every call we receive is a reminder of why this work matters and why we can’t stop now.
Your donation helps us reopen stronger, continue supporting families in crisis, and launch new initiatives like our upcoming Young Parents Support Group and Adult Hygiene Kit Collection.
Together, we can make sure every parent has a place to turn, and every child has a safe space to simply be a kid.

Help create a welcoming environment for the children of STAR House!
Are you interested in donating material items to STAR House? We appreciate it! We have defined some guidelines to ensure the children of STAR House have the best experience possible during their home-away-from-home stay at STAR House:
- Used: good condition calming toys (no stuffed animals), clothing sizes 2T- 10/12, storage totes, office supplies, video games console, outdoor toys, wagon, and babydoll accessories.
- Must be New: scent and dye free soaps, toiletries, shoes, bedding, undergarments, any food or medical supplies
Please avoid: button batteries, balloons, orbies, or items requiring many large batteries or many small pieces. As well as items that represent holidays, religion, violence or weapons.
