Child Direct Care Providers will provide direct care to at-risk children, newborn to through 6 years of age in a child/staff ratio of 3:1. Child Direct Care Providers will provide a safe, healthy, loving, and nurturing care environment, which fosters physical, social, personal, creative, and language development in children. All positions are part-time with two 8 hour shifts minimum, Friday through Sunday every other weekend. Additional shifts may become available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide direct care and supervision to the children in STAR House’s care.
● Develop and lead children’s play group activities; keeping the children positively engaged in developmentally appropriate activities.
● Provide care for the physical, social and emotional needs of the children.
● Prepare and serve meals or snacks as scheduled.
● Follow the daily schedule of the STAR House.
● Maintain a healthy and nurturing care environment.
● Document children’s activities and behaviors on a child care log.
● Cooperatively work with staff and volunteers to engage children in appropriate activities.
● Role model healthy, professional adult behavior.
● Communicate effectively.
● Model a flexible attitude and respect diversity, culture, and lifestyle of staff, volunteers, and children.
● Respect and maintain the confidentiality of children and families at all times.
● Mandated reporter.
● Light housekeeping and laundry duties.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
All Child Care Providers must be 18 years of age or older or 21 years or older for overnight shifts.
EXPERIENCE
● Experience working with children.
● High School Diploma or equivalent.
● Experience working in trauma informed environments preferred
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
● Dependable and Reliable
● Understanding and sensitive to the needs of young children/families in crisis.
● Ability to provide loving, positive, and nurturing care to children.
● Strong communication skills.
● Carry out group and individual activities.
● Ability to problem solve under pressure and to do multiple tasks.
● Team player. Minimum Physical Requirements:
● Ability to lift 40 pounds.
● Ability to sit on the floor with ability to rise quickly.
● Ability to hear a child speaking or crying.
ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING
● Must have reliable transportation.
● Duties could involve contact with parents/guardians and family members in crisis situations.
● Please express your availability- this is a 24 hour crisis Nursery (weekend hours to start)
Must have satisfactory completion of background check or be able to obtain a set-a-side
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
